Not so smart after all?

One day, a group of world-renowned scientists assembled together and decided that mankind had evolved to the point, God was no longer needed. With the advancements in technology, applied sciences and super computers, the antiquated idea of a divine being was beneath the dignity of self-sufficient men. Yet, in their pretentious posturing, they thought it “courteous” to inform God of their decision. So, they picked one of their leading intellects to approach the Almighty and notify Him that His attendance was no longer needed on planet Earth.

High atop a nearby mountain the scientist calls out, “God, we humans have decided we no longer need you. Civilization has evolved beyond belief in a Supreme Creator. Human ingenuity and self-governance have rendered your services completely unnecessary. In fact, with the advancements in technology and cutting-edge cybernetics we can cure diseases, prolong life and clone animals. Given enough time,” the scientist boldly suggested. “We could even accomplish what you claimed to have done in the Garden of Eden; create a human body from the very dust of the ground.”

God listened very patiently to the man and replied, “Go ahead. If you can duplicate creation, I will consent to your counsel and withdraw altogether. Take all the time you need to pursue your experiment.” Eager to begin his research the scientist reaches down, grabs a handful of dirt and turns to walk away. Immediately however God stops the man and explains to him, “No, no wait… you’ll have to get your own dirt!”

This fictitious story is intended to paint a vivid portrait of the arrogance of mankind who foolishly think their wisdom and ability equals or exceeds the Almighty. Genesis 1:1 declares, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.” God did this. Not evolution and not some random Big Bang brought about by cosmic chaos. Instead, God created everything from nothing. At best, all mortal men can do is to take what God has already created and refashion it into something else.

It is true, that men can build impressive structures, from vast cathedrals to skyscrapers to bridges that span vast chasms. Yet, all the material used to form these edifices were collected and remolded, not created. Robotic surgical devices, 3-D printers and supercomputers are all remarkable. However, each of these and many other technological feats are all simply the by-products of God’s creation. However ingenious men may become, still we cannot mimic the creative power of God.

It was just some 50 years ago when Americans began to swallow the poisonous pill of Evolution. Which at its core, is not a hypothesis on how life began, but an all-out satanic attempt to deny the very existence of God. Merely half a century ago, wicked men, and silent saints allowed the serpent to slither into our schools and poison the minds of our youth with the lies of Darwinism.

Now, this cancerous indoctrination has spread so far so fast, that those of us who maintain that God (and not chance) is the Divine Origin of existence, are looked upon as Neanderthals. Sadly, it is the Christian who insists that God’s Word, and not Charles Darwin, should serve as the reliable source for the origin of the species, that are thought to be ignorant and unlearned. Yet no devout atheist or adherent to Evolution can definitively explain where “that” came from. Let me explain what I mean by “that.” It doesn’t matter how many millions or billions of years you go back, you still have to answer this question; But where did “that” come from?

My answer, “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16,17

I would rather place my confidence that there is a Divine Architect ruling and reigning in the universe, than to believe that life is simply a result of cosmic coincidence. Why should I trust the word of fallen men rather than the Word of God? Why would you put your confidence in the fickle, ever-changing theories of men, rather than trusting in the Immutable Word of the Living God?

Until mankind can actually create something from nothing… until men can “go get their own dirt” – I am going to place my faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ as my Creator and my Savior?

What about you?
