Northside football’s Chastan Brown commits to the University of Central Florida
Northside football’s Chastan Brown announced his commitment to the University of Central Florida on Thursday.
WARNER ROBINS — The recruiting cycle for 2025 seniors is heating up, but for some it’s being put to rest — such as the Northside Eagles’ Chastan Brown.
Brown is a senior offensive lineman measured at 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds, and on Thursday he announced his commitment to the University of Central Florida.
During his commitment, he had a message to his friends and family:
“I thank each and every one of you for being here to support me and attend my signing day. Ever since I was young I always wanted to be something great, but I never knew that it would lead to this. Playing sports have brought me a very long way,” Brown said. “I thank my. Mom and my dad for making me the person I am today. I know sometimes I may be a handful, but my love for you guys couldn’t even be expressed in words. Also to my grandma and granddad, I love y’all for everything, and your grandson may mess up sometimes, but I promise I will do everything to put y’all in the best situation possible.”
As he started to thank his teammates and coaches, Brown became emotional. His short sniffles were met with applause, and he finished it out by thanking them for helping get him to this point.
Brown wasn’t alone in appreciating the moment, his head coach Ben Bailey was too.
“As coaches this is one of the coolest things we get to do. A young man is deciding where he’s going to continue his academic and athletic career,” Bailey said. “I’m really excited for Chastan. I’m excited for his family. He’s worked a long, hard time for this.”
On behalf of the Houston Home Journal, congrats to Chastan and his family on this accomplishment!
