Northside flag football hosts “Backyard Brawl” tournament

Northside high school hosted five teams for the “Backyard Brawl” flag football tournament on Friday.

WARNER ROBINS — A lot of athletic programs are warming up for a school year that’s only a couple of weeks away, that includes Northside’s flag football program.

Accurately named, most of the teams participating in Friday’s tournament are from the middle Georgia area, with the exception of Valdosta.

Northside, Warner Robins, Houston County, Southwest and Dodge County are the other teams competing.

Here are the results of Friday’s games:

Group A, Game 1 — Dodge County 22, Houston County 0


Group B, Game 1 — Northside 14, Warner Robins 0


Group A, Game 2 — Houston County 18, Southwest 0


Group B, Game 2 — Valdosta 20, Northside 6


Group A, Game 3 — Dodge County W, Southwest L

Group B, Game 3 — Valdosta 20, Warner Robins 19


Game 4 — Houston County 33, Warner Robins 7


Game 4 — Northside 19, Southwest 7


Semifinal 1 — Dodge County 19, Northside 0

*Game ended due to lightning


Semifinal 2 — Houston County 14, Valdosta 0

*Game ended due to lightning


Championship — Dodge County announced champions

With lightning ending the day the Dodge County Indians were declared the champions. They were up when the semifinal ended, and they’d already beaten Houston County, who was up on Valdosta in the semifinals when lightning canceled the games.
