Noon Optimist Club Students of the Year
Special to the Journal
The Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club honored four high school students and a student from Pearl Stephens Elementary School (PSES) at its annual Student of the Year banquet on April 25 at Ole Times Country Buffet. The event was attended by the students, their counselors and their parents.
Those honored were: Houston County High School – Megan Asadian; Northside High School – Abby Jones; Veterans High School – Shannon Schnable; Warner Robins High School – Carolina Smith; and Pearl Stephens Elementary School – Cierra Johnson
The club recognizes the students each month for academic excellence and outstanding achievements. Five of these students are chosen as Students of the Year. Each of the four high school students was awarded a $500 scholarship to use towards their educational endeavors. The PSES Student of the Year received a gift certificate. They were also presented plaques.
Club President Jason Ashford along with club members ‘Russ’ Winge and Charles Chapman made the presentations. Their names will be added to plaques that will be maintained at each individual school.
The Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club, the oldest civic club in the city, meets every Thursday at Ole Times Country Buffet. Email questions@wroptimist.org or call 718-0789 for additional information about club meetings or if you are interested in becoming a “Friend of Youth.”
