Nine Houston County seniors sign to continue athletic careers
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. —Thursday night marked a significant evening for Houston County High School as nine senior athletes signed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.
From baseball to softball and volleyball, the Bears were well represented on signing day.
From the baseball team, seniors Camden Cunningham, Kai Decker, Carson Small and Eli Stephens all signed to play collegiate baseball.
Cunningham signed his letter of intent to play at Georgia Highlands College. During his time as a Bear, Cunningham has been an integral piece of the Houston County rotation. Cunningham’s strong pitching helped the Bears win the GHSA 6A State Championship in 2023.
Decker signed his letter of intent to play at Mercer University. His strong middle infield play helped lead Houston County to their second state championship in three years.
Small signed to pitch at Pensacola State College. Small’s surgical command as a left hander has helped the Bears’ rotation tremendously during his time.
Stephens signed with Mercer University to play catcher for the Bears. Stephens has started games all four years of high school and has been an All-Region and All-State player for multiple seasons.
From the Bears’ softball team, Ally Fleming, Jacy Harrelson and Tess Rollins all signed to continue their collegiate softball careers.
Fleming signed to play softball at the University of South Carolina Aiken. She has pitched and received multiple accolades during her time as a Bear.
Harrelson signed with Jacksonville University to continue her softball career. Harrelson has pitched and played outfield during her time as a Bear racking up 216 career strikeouts with a 3.16 earned run average.
Rollins signed her letter of intent to play softball at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Rollins pitched and stepped up by playing outfield for the Bears this past fall.
The Houston County volleyball team had two girls sign with the signing of Kirsten Acevedo and Jessie Gober.
Acevedo signed her letter of intent to play at Chowan University in North Carolina.
Gober signed with Methodist University to continue her volleyball career.
