Museum’s Veteran’s Day bash
The Museum of Aviation welcomed visitors on Veteran’s Day with a chance for them to win a Museum golf shirt. Several briefers were on hand to explain aircraft and military equipment and explain more about the U.S. Air Force – yesterday and today. Visitors who met seven of the briefers and made a purchase in the gift shop or victory café won a museum golf shirt. A total of 41 visitors won a prize. At 1 p.m. everyone was invited to share some cake with the veterans and guests.
Former SR-71 crew chief Bob Perraut from Robins AFB was on hand to talk about his time with the amazing SR-71 Blackbird and F-15 pilots Lt. Col. Dan Badia, Chris Coddington and Steve D’Amico from Robins Air Force Base talked about the F-15 Eagle fighter aircraft. Maj. James Wolfe from the 116th Air Control Squadron on Robins Air Force Base explained the mission of the E-8 JSTARS aircraft and several members of the Tuskegee Airmen Association were on hand to talk about the experiences and achievements of the WWII Tuskegee Airmen.
Museum volunteer and U.S. Air Force veteran Jim Flaviani briefed visitors on the C-130 fuselage and a World War II Half Track on display via Chuck Herbert, a military equipment collector from Kathleen.
