WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — If you don’t think STEM is important, this event could certainly change your mind.

On Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Museum of Aviation will be holding the STEM City Expo.

“A free event, fun for the whole family, that will be located in our Century of Flight Hangar… Families can come to the Museum of Aviation and visit over 20 organizations… That are providing STEM activities,” said Lacey Meador, the Museum’s Communication Coordinator.

It is a drop-in event, requiring no prior registration to attend and people can come at any time as long as it lasts.

There will be many hands-on, fun activities that grant visitors free items they can take home like fancy flashlights, STEM activities to do at home, and other things.

“It’s a really great opportunity to see all of the STEM organizations that are right here in Middle Georgia,” said Meador.

Among the organizations at the event hosting are National STEM Academy, The Airforce STEM, Middle Georgia STEM Alliance, Pink STEM and Georgia Power.

Along with the multiple organizations, there will be two free training classes offered by Pink STEM about the basics of electronics. The first session is offered for elementary schoolers, while the second, more advanced session, is for middle and high schoolers.

If people are interested in registering for the training courses, they can register themself or their child on the Museum of Aviation’s website. By clicking on “upcoming events” under the visitor’s tab and then clicking on the STEM City Expo page, there will be a link to the electronics training registration.

This is the Museum of Aviation’s second annual STEM City Expo, the first one taking place last year. The Museum’s goal is to help demonstrate how STEM is a vital part of every organization and community, and Meador encourages the public to explore the rest of the museum as well.

“We are open ‘til 4 p.m. that day; our gift shop will be open. We do have drinks and snacks for sale inside of our gift shop,” said Meador.
