On Thursday, April 22, Sheriff Cullen Talton of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office shared a media release on a homicide investigation regarding a murder that occurred earlier that morning at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the quiet community of Kathleen.

According to the release shared on social media and with various news outlets, HCSO responded to an emergency call regarding an incident occurring on the 1800 block of Georgia Highway 247 South, Kathleen. Arriving at the residence in question, deputies were met with the scene of Brock Thomas Parrish (age 27), of Warner Robins, with a gunshot wound in the chest. Emergency medical services immediately took action and promptly transported Parrish to the Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the wound, Parrish was unable to reach a stable condition and was later pronounced deceased.

Dylan Haywood Davis (age 31), the one responsible for firing the fatal shot, is the resident of the location of the incident. According to the release, deputies deduced that a verbal altercation between Davis and Parrish led to Davis’ extreme measures of brandishing a rifle and firing a shot into Parrish’s chest.

Taken into custody by the responding deputies, “Davis has been charged with one count of felony murder and one count of aggravated assault,” stated in the press release. Davis has been detained at the Houston County Detention Center without bond.

Currently still under investigation, the HCSO declined to share further information by the time of The Journal’s press deadline. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is encouraged to contact lead investigator Cpl. Zachary Polk with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office at 478-542-2080.
