PERRY, Ga — Multiple schools got into the giving spirit this week, donating cards and care package items towards the 21st Century Partnership’s traveling mailbox, bringing the organization one step closer to their goal of 30,000 cards and letters for military members stationed overseas and at Robins Air Force Base.

This week, Langston Road Primary School, Perry Youth Leadership, Langston Road Elementary School and Mossy Creek Middle School joined 21CP in the spirit of giving. The Journal spoke to representatives from Langston Road Elementary, who were excited to give back to the community and said the children were equally excited as well.

“They were very excited, even in the hallways, they were telling me all about it: ‘Miss Cobb, I brought this. I’m making this for the airmen’ or ‘I gotta go get my notes up to the box before they leave.’ So they knew the importance of this and how they wanted to make a difference in the airmen’s lives, so they were excited,” Langston Road Elementary Principal Kyon Cobb said.

“Just being in the classroom with them, watching them make it was really exciting, too. They had lots of great ideas in just coming up with what things to say. It was really neat to see what they were saying to military,” Langston Road Elementary 3-5 Teacher Robin Colvin said.

“To show kids, to bring awareness to the sacrifices that these military servicemen and women make and little kids being able to feel like they played a role in brightening someone’s day is wonderful,” Langston Road Elementary School Counselor Hannah Wells said.

Langston Road Elementary donated to the cause for the second year in a row and 21CP leadership was also thrilled to continue their mission and grateful for the schools’ support.

“I’m just super excited to see that many cards coming in from an elementary school. That just brings so much joy to me. I know it’s gonna be a huge blessing to our military,” Executive Assistant Debra Cox said.

21st Century Partnership is accepting letters, cards and items that can go in care packages, with the exception of chocolate and homemade goods, until Oct. 30th. Donations can be made 21CP’s office, located at 804 Park Drive, in Warner Robins.
