WARNER ROBINS – The city of Warner Robins hosted its Month of the Military Child celebration at Memorial Park Monday, April 22.
The field was filled with purple in honor of military children. The event had food, games and other activities for attendees; Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said the atmosphere was full of laughter, running, jumping and having fun at the park Monday evening.
Patrick said the event was held to celebrate and appreciate military children. The venue, Memorial Park, shares special significance, just within view of Robins Air Force Base.
“We really want to have a moment, just to celebrate them and the sacrifices children make. Just doing fun things that kids like to do and that is what we’re doing for the military child,” she said.
She shared the city is a huge supporter of the military and Robins Air Force Base. Patrick said as a proud military child, they want to make sure they are highlighting the sacrifices made by the children.
“Many times, what the child sacrifices is overlooked, but we sacrifice a lot, having to come in, make new friends and start anew each time. It’s a sacrifice, we just want to connect with Robins Air Force Base in a way that usually doesn’t happen. We’re celebrating our children,” she said.
