HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — On Monday, July 18, Quentin Jerles Perkins, of Montezuma, was arrested after Houston County Sheriff’s Officers breached one of several hotel rooms he was renting. His arrest comes after several warrants for crimes such as kidnapping, false imprisonment and simple battery, all in Houston County. The sheriff’s office’s warrant division had been working for nearly two months to apprehend him.

Special Response Team leader Lieutenant Bo Spivey provided details on Perkins’ arrest.

Perkins was wanted for Kidnapping, Simple Battery, False Imprisonment, Possession of a Firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, and driving on a suspended license, all filed on May 23 of this year.

“With people like this we do different searches for them,” Spivey explained. “We used a number of resources that lead us to him being at a hotel, purchasing multiple rooms.”

After receiving this information, officers needed to confirm that Perkins was where they thought he was.

“When we get information, and its not a subjects residence, we have to do surveillance in the area to make sure our target is actually there,” Spivey said. “Half of my team was in the wood line, and observed Mr. Perkins standing in front of room 112, which he was said to be in.”

Once it was established that Perkins was in fact act the location, officers moved to execute his arrest.

“We then went to make contact with him at the door of the room. We knocked, he refused to come to the door, and we knew he saw us. We breached the door, made contact with every body inside the room, possible five people. We took them all into custody, plus Mr. Perkins until we were able to run them and make sure they weren’t wanted in other counties.”

Of the five people in the room, Perkins was arrested as well as one other person, a woman wanted out of Bibb County.

It is unknown why Perkins was renting multiple room. A handgun was found at the location, as well as a case of rifle ammo.

This arrest comes after a two-month long investigation into Perkins location, but Spivey said that it’s just part of the job.

“We make arrests every day,” Spivey said. “We have multiple subjects we have to look for, the officers have cases, so a lot of the time cases may go cold, but they’re working cases every day, as far as fugitives go. Our sheriff’s office is one of the only few in the state that actually has a Warrants Division that actually goes out and tracks people down, whether they’re in this county, Bibb County or surrounding counties. We go retrieve them and bring them to Houston County.”

“We want people to understand that if they’re going to come to Houston County, we love having them. As long as they come to Houston County with the intention of being good patrons, to visit, have a good time and be law-abiding, we welcome them. If not, they don’t need to come to Houston County.”
