Mom’s Club yard sale successful once again
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The annual Mom’s Club yard sale took place last Friday at the American Legion in Warner Robins, and a success despite the rainy weather.
The club decides which organization they want to donate their proceeds to each year — this time they donated to Operation Arresting Hunger, a local charity led by law enforcement that helps families receive Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts. According to Mom’s Club President Sarah Fowler, they raised approximately $900 to donate to the charity.
Many people came by the sale and contributed whether it was through buying or donating items. Some items not sold at the yard sale are either being donated to a rescue mission in Macon, while bigger items are being sold on Facebook Marketplace and items like bottles and pacifiers are being put in their community pantry.
According to Fowler, the club will also sell baby clothes and other items to local consignment shops to help those shops as well.
Although their location was different from the average yard sale, Fowler said their indoor location was perfect for the weather on Friday. Although fewer people attended compared to previous years, the sale still raised money and helped a local cause. Fowler said she enjoys helping the community and spending time with club members as well.
“Honestly, the best thing about the yard sale for us is that we all come together and work together, and we get to spend two days hanging with friends and doing something great,” said Fowler.
Make sure to keep an eye out on Facebook Marketplace for last minute items from the yard sale. To find out more about their organization and upcoming events, including next year’s yard sale, visit the club’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/momsclubwarnerrobins/.
The Mom’s Club community pantry can be found in front of Between Friends Coffee Shop, at 1080 Highway 96 #100, in Warner Robins.
Fowler said she informs people about the community pantry whenever she gets the chance.
“The pantry is open 24/7. It works under the principle of take what you need, get what you can. Anyone can donate at any time and anyone can pick up items that they need at anytime,” Fowler said.
Fowler would also like to give her thanks to American Legion for allowing them to have their yard sale at their facility, Robertson’s Kids Resale in Lizella for purchasing baby clothing and gear and a thank you to the members of the mom’s club.
“It truly takes a village and I am so grateful for mine,” said Fowler.
Finally, she thanked the community as well.
“Thank you to this amazing community for supporting us and Operation Arresting Hunger. This could not have been done without you,” said Fowler.
