Middle Georgia Sportscards & Collectibles: Dream becomes more than a hobby
Located in the middle of Russell Parkway in Warner Robins you will find a sports fanatic’s store, Middle Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles. If you like to collect autographs, memorabilia, bobbleheads, etc. then this is the store for you.
Owners and operators Charlie Heinisch and wife Lisa first opened the store on Nov. 21, 2015.
“It’s been a long time dream of mine to open a store like this,” said Charlie Heinisch. “I’ve been collecting practically my whole life, and wanted to do something for the community, for the hobby of collections.”
Heinisch said they are more than just a collectibles store. They are a full service store.
“At Middle Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles we not only sell, but we buy and trade,” said Heinisch. “With that being said there are some things that are highly collectible and some no longer. But we still encourage customers to bring in their items.”
The store carries mainly football, basketball and baseball items. Heinisch said they also feature a new item called Pop Figures, which are mini bobble heads featuring comic characters, popular television show actors, and many more.
“On top of running the store we also host our own trade shows,” said Heinisch. “Currently we are in two cities McDonough at the Hilton Garden Inn off exit 218, and Macon at the Holiday Inn off exit 169. The McDonough show is held monthly, and Macon every other month, both are held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.”
Heinisch said he hopes to in the future host a trade show in Houston County.
“This to me is an instant hobby,” said Heinisch. “It’s a hobby that’s not just for adults, not just for guys. It’s for anybody and anyone who enjoys sports either young or old, men or women. This hobby is really great bonding hobby for parents and children.
“One unique feature in my shop is I have a wall dedicated to my customers. It is a wall with their autographs. I invite all to sign because when you’re an autograph collector, there’s nothing better than collecting a customer’s autograph.”
You can visit Middle Georgia Sportscards and Collectibles Wednesday through Sunday. Hours are Wednesday-Saturday noon to 6 p.m., and Sundays noon to 4. Heinisch said they also have a Facebook page. He said customers should keep an eye on the page because you never know what special guest or athlete could show up.
