A large group gathered on Memorial Day to honor those who have served

the country.

“We are here to honor all men and women who have given their love so

we can be free,” said Rev. Roger Howell at the Memorial Day Ceremony held at

the Perry Memorial Gardens Monday.

“How important is freedom,” Howell asked the group, and then he cited

several verses from Genesis concerning the topic.

After his speech, a wreath was laid on the grave of a Veteran. Emily

Moody, a Perry High School student, played “Taps.”

Kadance Rivera (right) walks around at the ceremony

with her own flag.
