WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Marquis Westbrook, now the former head coach of the Warner Robins Demons, has agreed to become the next head coach at Peach County High School.

Coach Westbrook served under Mike Chastain as defensive coordinator for Warner Robins, and after Mike Chastain was hired by Jones County to be their new head coach in 2019, Coach Westbrook ascended to the head coaching position at Warner Robins.

Over the past four seasons, Coach Westbrook amassed a record of 50-9, and the Demons made an appearance in the state title game every season. They won back-to-back state titles in his second and third seasons, but they fell short last season, losing to Ware County in the championship game.

Chad Alligood, the former head coach at Northside High School, resigned after last season, and he accepted the athletic director position at Jones County. Now Northside and Warner Robins, once considered the most desirable coaching destinations in Houston County, are looking for head coaches.

Warner Robins will be looking for someone to step in and fill Coach Westbrook’s huge shoes, which won’t be easy. Perhaps Northside will finally hire a coach that can bring them back to prominence and make them relevant once again. The last time they won the state title was almost a decade ago, in 2014, under Coach Nix.

Chad Campbell, who coached at Peach County for over 30 years, retired this season, but he later agreed to become the head coach at Westfield. Campbell established a great program, and he won several state titles, though the team hasn’t won a title in almost 15 years.

With the hiring of Westbrook, a proven winner, Peach County hopes to reinvigorate the program, and get back to their championship-winning ways.
