Macon man sentenced to 15 years in prison after sexually abusing minor for two years
Christopher Dismukes, 34, pleaded guilty on June 27 to one count of child molestation in the Superior Court of Houston County.
HOUSTON COUNTY – Christopher Dismukes, 34, pleaded guilty on June 27 to one count of child molestation in the Superior Court of Houston County.
According to the media release, Chief Judge Edward D. Lukemire sentenced the defendant to a total of 20 years with the first 15 years to be served in the Department of Corrections. Dismukes will be required to register as a sex offender for life when he is released from prison and will have to abide by sex offender conditions of probation.
The release said the molestation came to light when law enforcement looked through the victim’s phone in relation to another unrelated investigation. While looking through the victim’s phone, Detective Brousard with the Warner Robins Police Department discovered the victim, a 16-year-old boy, had been engaged in a sexual relationship with Dismukes. Law enforcement discovered pictures, videos and texts which documented sexual abuse.
Further investigation revealed the child was roughly 14-years-old when the abuse began. The abuse went on for approximately two years until it was discovered by Brousard. The abuse was exacerbated by Dismukes’ methamphetamine addiction. The release said he and the child would use meth together, often provided by Dismukes, and then he would perform various sexual acts with the child. According to the release, most of the abuse occurred in Bibb County with some of the abuse occurring in Houston County.
The case was investigated by Detective Brousard and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin Duane of the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.
Duane provide comments on the case:
“This case is yet another example of sexual abuse happening right under people’s noses without anyone realizing it. It’s a reminder that parents need to keep a close eye on their kids. I’m glad Detective Brousard discovered the abuse, otherwise we would not have been able to get this predator off the streets and the teen would have not gotten the help he needed.”
District Attorney Eric Z. Edwards also provided additional comments:
“This defendant didn’t just abuse a child—he fueled that abuse with methamphetamine and tried to hide it behind a twisted relationship. That is exploitation at its worst. Thanks to the sharp eye of Detective Brousard and the determined work of ADA Justin Duane, we were able to hold Christopher Dismukes accountable for every ounce of damage he inflicted. He will now spend the better part of two decades exactly where he belongs: in prison, and off our streets.”
