When Perry (8-6, 7-2 Region 1-4A) beat Benedictine on Tuesday they gave themselves a chance to win the region, and that dream stayed alive on Thursday with a 4-1 win at Warner Robins.
The record in question is how many region championships the Lady Panthers (9-3, 7-0 Region 1-4A) have won consecutively; the number is up to six after Thursday’s 7-0 win against Warner Robins (5-3, 2-2 Region).
The Bears (9-4, 6-3 Region 2-5A) ran away with a 5-0 victory against their county rival Warhawks (11-4, 7-2 Region), all but erasing their region championship hopes and potentially stealing a home playoff game.
Since 2019 there’s only been one year that Houston County (10-2, 9-0 Region 2-5A) was not the region champion.
A big milestone and some exciting matchups filled the schedule last week as Houston County teams enter the final weeks of the regular season.
As April approaches every Houston County team has gotten at least one region series under their belt.
