“We do date nights quarterly, rent out the space and we do a lot of art classes,” the owner’s daughter Jay White said. Owner Pam Johnson is the main baker and has been baking for over 30 years.

“She has been locally servicing the community for about 10 years now through her cottage kitchen and now our brick and mortar,” White said. “We bake wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and we have cupcakes. I always compare it to kind of like a donut shop because you can walk in and grab your assortment of cupcakes or come in to talk.”

The cake shop likes to change up its events. In the past, they have done date nights with a Valentine’s Day theme, which included cake decorating and live jazz, and Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and Wine Tasting.

“This event will be hands-on pasta making from scratch, and we have Middle Georgia Wine Excursions to come in and do the wine-tasting segment,” White said. “It’s couples themed so we made the whole event space kind of fancy and make it look like a for-real dining space.”

White said that participants have a great time and the shop has regulars that attend the date nights.

“Our space is small so we can only take 10 couples, so it’s a really nice and intimate event,” White said.

Currently, there are still four spots left, meaning only two more couples can join the fun before the event sells out.

White said her parents would go to little jazz spots and have nice experiences together, inspiring them to host the couples-themed events at Little Sweeties Cakery.

“Honestly, my sister and I really like planning events so this gives us an opportunity to use our event space in a way that we would like to be something available for couples or something different,” she said.

The cake shop will provide all the pasta ingredients.

“We’ve got flour, eggs, water and salt so it’s an easy ingredient list for us,” she said. “This was just an easy transition from baked goods.”

The cake shop will also have pasta turners set up, so participants can go through the full pasta-making process.

White says there is no other intimate experience like this pasta-making and wine-tasting date night.

“This event is a safe, fun and low-key space where people can just enjoy their evening and they kind of know what to expect,” she said.
