Dear Editor,

The first of December is a landmark day for this country and the Supreme Court. This day’s hearings will begin on a case at the Intersection of States’ Rights, the Limited Power of the Federal Government, and the Sanctity of what some people consider “Human Life” (and others not).  It will be argued that this case is “Established Law”, although lost in all the noise from proponents and opponents alike are the details of this particular case, which are actually centered on the PROCESS of law, rather than the specific merits of what this law is actually about.

I recall an earlier conflict surrounding a case of “Established Law” which addressed those same three issues. In fact I have my G-G-G-Uncle’s Discharge Certificate hanging in a frame in my living room, which was presented from “his side” of that conflict once it was over.  Our country was almost destroyed during THAT conflict, and it has yet to be seen whether we will survive the inevitable UPCOMING conflict once the current case is decided.

One has to wonder if FULL “Personhood” will be recognized by the Supreme Court in THIS case, or something LESS than “Personhood”, like maybe 3/5ths – or 15 weeks, for example. Another question that could well rise from this case is whether “We the People” will be satisfied in allowing the federal government to establish a National Law which is not within their bounds as defined by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.  Finally, pending the outcome of this case, will the “Several States” actually be courageous enough to raise legislation on the state level to define the “Will of the People” in this matter.
