Letter to the Editor – Billy Powell
Dear Editor,
Recently, I attended the Palm Sunday observance at the Perry United Methodist Church. The service was truly outstanding, meaningful, and will be long remembered.
I applaud the performance of Dr. Jane Kimbrel, who helped plan and direct the observance. She is extremely talented and performs marvelously in leading the PUMC Choir as well as the Instrumentalists. The collaborative pianist was the most capable Dr. Carol Goff. James Farmer did a pluperfect job of narrating the Passion narrative from John’s Gospel without a bobble. Carrying the cross down the aisle was Jimmy Beeland, most effective close to the observance.
The choir performed superbly. A member of this choir is Rev. Ellis Carpenter, who was an effective Methodist minister before retiring. PUMC has a new pastor. He is Rev. Tom Carruth, an accomplished minister of the gospel. Rev. Carruth is personable and readily identifies with others. Parishioners are most comfortable talking with him. His future looms great.
Great things lie ahead at PUMC!
