Let The Majority Speak
Are you aware that there will be multiple times this year that your voice, concerns, well-being and needs will require that a vote must take place? The Board of Elections will be busier than ever with the number of federal, state, county and municipal elections taking place. Like they say on the television, we had better check our local listings for the time and place so that our civic duty can be fulfilled.
When we prioritize the exercise of voting, we set the course for future generations. When we make it our practice to vote, we show the way for future generations. When we perfect the way, we get informed for voting, we teach future generations how to do it. When we persevere through all types of adversity to vote, we declare to future generations that they are valued and important. The passion that we express when it comes to the process of voting will say to those who come behind us that there are things that must be done to ensure that a future will exist for others.
The battle for freedom never stops. There will always be someone who thinks that decisions should be made for everyone by just a few, rather than having everyone state a position. This makes the duty we have to vote one of the things that must be done so that your voice is heard. Even if the vote does not end in the way that you desired for it to, you still make a difference by knowing that you are not the only one who has concluded what you did. Faithfulness to the process of voting will teach many things.
Where we are is exactly where we should be. This is the place and this is the time for us to live, breathe and participate in bringing the idea of an American Dream to life. The requirement of participation stirs up many views on how to get the job of government done. While you are reading this, be hopeful that as you are being moved to get involved and get into it that others who care about democracy will also.
Let the majority speak by casting a ballot!
