Law enforcement seizes over $5 million worth of narcotics after lengthy investigation
Law enforcement agencies including the Perry Police Department and Houston County Sheriff’s Office, seized over $5 million of illegal narcotics in a months-long joint investigation.
HOUSTON COUNTY — On Thursday, July 17, the Perry Police Department and Houston County Sheriff’s Office carried out search warrants for nine different locations in the Atlanta area and surrounding counties.
According to a media release, the search warrants were a part of a months-long joint investigation into a drug trafficking organization believed to have distributed large amounts of illegal narcotics in Houston County and Middle Georgia.
“All nine targeted residences are believed to have served as sources of supply for narcotics being funneled into Middle Georgia,” the release said.

The narcotics found include: almost 77 pounds of marijuana, over 15 pounds of THC edibles, more than 13 pounds of powder cocaine, nearly 10 pounds of methamphetamine, over four pounds of ecstasy/MDMA believed to be laced with fentanyl and over $200,000 suspected as profits made by the drug trafficking.
These items are estimated to be worth over $5 million.
“To date, 21 individuals have been arrested in connection with their roles in this drug distribution network,” the release said.
All individuals involved are being held at the Houston County Detention Center and face charges stemming from Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
Perry Police Department and Houston County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Atlanta Police Department Narcotics Unit, South Fulton Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia State Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.
