Lady Hornets put the sting on the Lady Eagles in Central Georgia match-up
PERRY, Ga. — The Westfield Lady Hornets put the sting on the Stratford Academy Lady Eagles, sending them back to the nest with a 8-0 loss on Monday night.
The Lady Hornets defense was excellent the whole game, and to start it off was a routine grounder fielded by Kendall Fowler throwing to Cat Raines to record a 6-3 out.
The second and third outs were routine pop-ups to the right-fielder Camilla Bloodworth.
The pitcher and catcher were Lauren Davidson and Carleigh Knowles.
The bottom half of the first Lady Hornets were able to get two runners on with Fowler and Madison Hammock walking to start the game.
Fowler was walked and after two pass balls was able to advance.
Knowles was able to hit the long flyball over the left field fence for a three run homerun.
With timely walks and a standup double by Knowles, the Lady Hornets were able to go up by five runs. Knowles finished the night two-for-three with a homerun, double, and a strikeout.
The strong pitching and defense by the Lady Hornets were able to limit the Lady Eagles to a few base runners, which were left stranded.
Davidson captured the 8-0 win, and the Lady Hornets were not able to get the ball in place and stranded many runners throughout the game.
With runners in scoring positions, Bloodworth was able to hit a single up the middle to score the winning RBI against the Lady Eagles sending them back to the nest.
