PERRY, Ga. – The Westfield Lady Hornets left the First Presbyterian Day Vikettes scoreless on Thursday night and took home the win 7-0.

A great part of that effort was Lady Hornet Camilla Bloodworth, who finished with 10 strikeouts, including three in a row to close the second inning.

She only walked two players through the game, and the rest was taken care of by the Lady Hornets’ defense.

The Lady Hornets drew first blood as Chloe Hills took advantage of a wild pitch and ran in the first score of the game.

The second inning started off promising for the Lady Hornets with a double to left field by Bloodworth, but they couldn’t keep the bats going and both teams ended the period without a score.

The Vikettes were able to get a couple of runners on the corners in the third inning, but Anna Leigh struck out and left the runners stranded.

Hills came out swinging in the bottom with a single, followed by a two-run home run by Carleigh Knowles.

Lauren Davidson singled, a sacrifice hit from Riley Nelson advanced her and a single from Emmy Dehem scored her.

Bloodworth doubled to center field and scored Dehem, and the Lady Hornets ended the fifth inning with a 5-0 lead.

Kendal Fowler and Knowles doubled in the fourth inning and Davidson singled to put the Lady Hornets up 7-0.

The remaining innings went scoreless for both teams, and the Lady Hornets won and improved their record to 7-2 on the season.

The Lady Hornets play the Vikettes again on Tuesday, Sep. 5 in Macon at 6:30 p.m.

They also travel to Pinewood Christian on Wednesday, Sep. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and finish up their week at home against Mount de Sales Academy on Thursday, Sep. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
