WARNER ROBINS — The Northside Lady Eagles (8-1) won their eighth game of the season and fifth in a row on Friday as they took care of business against the Forest Park Lady Panthers (0-10) on the first day of the Forrest B. Johnson & Associates Holiday Hoops Classic.

Although Northside is not where they want to be long term this game was firmly in the “should win” category for the Lady Eagles, and they did what they were supposed to do 73-11 in another extremely lopsided final.

“We’re winning the ones we’re supposed to win, last year that wasn’t the case. But I don’t even know if we had any games that we were supposed to win last year,” Northside head coach ChoRhonda Gwaltney-Harris said with a chuckle.

Forest Park trailed by 16 after the first eight minutes and by halftime the deficit more than doubled to 39 as the younger end of the bench came in with under three minutes to go to the break.

The Lady Panthers reached double digits with 4:10 left in the game, but there was never a question of who would come out on top.

“I tell them, we worry about ourselves in games like this,” Gwaltney-Harris said. “I want to see a rotation, I want to see us move the ball, I want to see us take good shots because that leads to when we play better teams, what are we gonna do then. I don’t want to be picking up bad habits when you don’t play teams as good as you.”

UP NEXT

The Lady Eagles have their eyes set to Valdosta, who is arguably the biggest test they’ll have faced all season on Saturday. That tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday.

“When we get against teams that we’re not supposed to win, what do we do then,” Gwaltney-Harris said.

Forest Park will open Day 2 of the Holiday Hoop fest against Spencer at 1 p.m.
