Know what you do not know
In the business world it is important for you to know what you know and to know what you do not know. Some businesses run into trouble sometimes because of the things that they do not know that they should know. When it comes to the end of time when God brings this world to a close and begins eternity, there will be definitely things we know and things that we do not know.
When it comes to the things that we know, we will know them because God has revealed them to us in the Bible. We know that Jesus is coming again. “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” As Jesus was ascending into heaven, the angels reminded the disciples that Jesus would be coming again.
We know that we will all be judged. “Just as people are destined to die once and after that to face judgement,” Hebrew 9:27. The fact is that everyone is going to die and when we do we all will face God to be judged. Where we spend eternity will be based on whether or not we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. If we have done that we will spend forever in heaven. Those who have not done this will spend forever separated from God.
So we know that Jesus is coming again but it is important that we know what we do not know and that is that we do not know when the end of time will be. Matthew 24:24 says, “Therefore keep watch because you do not know what day your Lord will come.” We do not know when Jesus is coming again so we must be ready to go to heaven when he does.
Another thing that we do not know is when our last day on earth will be and we will be standing before God in judgement. These are things that we do not know and since we do not know the time we will pass away, it should make us realize that we must live a Christian life.
In Matthew 24:42, Jesus tells us to keep watch because we do not know when the day will come, that we must be ready every day. Keep watch, stand guard and do not let his coming catch you by surprise.
We must be ready today if today is that day, we must be ready tomorrow if tomorrow is that day or we must be ready for that wonderful day whenever it comes.
Yes, we all need to be ready to face God whenever that day in our life comes. If by chance someone who is reading this has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, please go to a pastor who you know and he will guide you in the right direction so you will be ready to go to heaven when you leave this earth.
In closing, many of you have probably heard the country song that says in part, “Everyone wants to go to heaven, we just do not want to go right now.”
