Kingdom Boxing Gym hosts local fights for a good cause
The season of giving is upon us and that giving may come in many forms, be they right hook, left hook, uppercut and charitable gifts. The Kingdom Boxing Gym and the Kingdom Fitness Foundation are hosting a night of boxing, the Wartown Boxing Classic, at the Lab Sports Complex in Warner Robins on Saturday afternoon. The doors will open at noon with the fights starting at 1 p.m. and there will be 25 fights including matches for male, female and youth.
“We believe this gives an outlet for our local youth to do something positive that will also keep them off the street,” said KD Miniano, an organizer of the event and a boxing coach at the gym. The boxers Miniano is speaking of are as young as eight years old. They are from Houston County and use the sport of boxing to not only stay out of trouble but to improve their fitness, get better at the sweet science, and of course to compete. There’s also the business of raising money for local charities, “All proceeds will be used to feed the less fortunate families of Houston County,” said Miniano who listed local charities such as Operation Arresting Hunger , Feed the City (through Hope Church), and The Kingdom Fitness Foundation.
The season of giving begins at home and that is what KIngdom Boxing Gym is attempting to demonstrate with this event. “Kingdom Boxing Gym was started for our youth and community,” said Miniano. Local boxing talent that are scheduled to participate range from the amateur to the semi-professional. Boxers 10-year old Adan Sotello, 11-year old Aiden Camp, 13-year old Zaheer Musa, 14-year old Franklin Ham, 15-year old Elijah Irwin and 16-year old Nahuel Torres will all be a part of the days matches. Adult boxers Reggie Camp, Fabron leon, Dante Williams, Ty williams and Monica Lombardo will also be on the card.
The Lab Sports Complex is located at 112 Constitution Drive in Warner Robins. Tickets at the door are available for $20 for adults, $10 for children seven years old and older, children 6 years old and under are free.
