BYRON — KIHOMAC, along with the City of Warner Robins, celebrated the grand opening of their new 150,000 square foot facility located on 1978 Lightning Way in Byron.

The new facility, KIHOMAC’s first in the State of Georgia, is now fully operational. The organization is a veteran-owned aerospace manufacturing and engineering company based in Reston, Virginia.

President and COO Adam Grimm said the new KIHOMAC facility is not just a building, it is a physical embodiment of the company.

“Being here in the Warner Robins area and being where our customer base is, we think that’s important,” he said. “We’re here to do good things as we want to provide jobs.”

Grimm said the facility is also an investment in the community, where they can establish roots and build their legacy.

“We’re very excited to be opening this facility and starting that next chapter here in Warner Robins,” he said.

Grimm pointed out that they do a lot of work at Robins Air Force Base’s Air Logistics Complex and said they are a great partner to KIHOMAC.

“We think that being close to them and being in a position to be able to support them directly means we can have more meaningful conversations with them, they can come out and see the work that we’re doing and work closely with our customers to provide a better product on time and on budget,” he said.

Grimm said KIHOMAC had a “growth spurt” after nearly 20 years in a smaller Peach County facility. He said they needed a bigger and better location.

“With building a facility like this, we’re here for the long haul,” he said. “We’ve promised the county and the state that we’re going to add 70 new jobs, and those are good-paying manufacturing and engineering jobs. Based on our history, we’re going to knock that number out of the park.”

The new KIHOMAC facility will be another proponent in sustaining the mission of Robins Air Force Base. Grimm said the facility will provide more manufacturing capacity locally. He believes KIHOMAC can provide RAFB with quality manufacturers and engineers to support them.

Founder and CEO of KIHOMAC Ki Ho Kang speaks at the grand opening of their new facility. (Sandra Hernandez/HHJ)

Founder and CEO Ki Ho Kang said it feels emotional to have reached a milestone like this.

“I’m not quite sure how to describe it, but this [facility] represents the journey it took to get here,” he said. “It’s surreal to a certain extent.”

Kang said he believes that he has achieved the American dream by opening the new facility. He mentioned that sometimes people perceive things as impossible and overlook the essence of the American dream.

“If you work hard, put in the effort and make good decisions, things are possible here,” he said. “The building is just a building, but it represents all the sacrifices and investments that we made to get here.

Kang noted that building this design in just 12 months is incredibly challenging. He said it would be nearly impossible in states like New York or Maryland.

“Middle Georgia should be very proud of how the government is working on behalf of them to allow a facility like this to be built in that time frame,” he said.
