KES presents wax museum

The fifth graders at Kings Chapel took their parents, visitors and schoolmates back in time. The students put on a wax museum featuring the Civil War and Reconstruction period.

Fifth grade teacher April Pearson said the students do this every year.

“This is just a great and different way for our students to learn about history,” said Pearson. “The students could pick a person or place to do research on. If they chose a ‘person,’ they were to dress up like them and prepare a speech. If they chose a ‘place,’ they were to create a poster board with facts and scenes.”

Those visiting had the role of walking through the museum and tapping the shoulders of the students to learn about each subject.

When you tapped Daniel Ledger’s, you got to hear about Robert E. Lee.

“I chose Robert E. Lee because he was a hero for the south and I’m from the south,” said Ledger.

Just around the corner you could learn about Bella Boyd from Reagan Hughes.

“Bella Boyd was a confederate spy during the Civil War,” said Hughes.
