Johnson participates in area FFA Creed Career Development Event

Bonaire Middle School FFA member Catherine Mariah Johnson recently competed in the Sub-Area and Area Ill FFA Creed Career Development Event. The Sub-Area event was held at Northeast Bibb High School in Macon on Feb. 14. The Area 111 event was held at Houston County High School on Feb. 26.
The FFA Creed Career Development Event allows students to develop leadership skills by participating in public speaking activities and by stimulating interest in leadership and citizenship.
Participants must recite the FFA Creed from memory and answer questions from the judges indicating familiarity with the subject and the ability to think quickly. Participants are judged on voice, stage presence, power of expression, general effect and response to questions. Catherine Mariah Johnson was one of the top three individuals in the Sub-Area competition, and the only middle school student to advance onto the Area Ill competition. Johnson placed fourth in the Area Ill competition FFA is a national organization of over 449,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
Johnson, an eighth grader, is the daughter of Hervella Ingram of Kathleen and the granddaughter of Hervia and Catherine Ingram of Perry. Cheralyn Keily is the Bonaire Middle School FFA advisor.
