JMA Trojans eliminate Hornet boys
James Beeland had 14 points and made four 3-pointers to lead
all scorers. in Westfield’s 44-41 GISA AAA first-round state basketball loss to
John Milledge Academy on Feb. 21.
Giles Amos added 13 points to go with seven rebounds.
“We both started slow offensively,” said coach
Jake Walls. “JMA played a zone defense and we missed a lot of open shots.
We finally hit our stride and made a good run but could not finish the
game.”
“We played a faster pace in the second half as we tried
to press them and make them run a little bit,” said Walls.” We had
the ball with 15 seconds left and down by one. We ran a set and the ball got knocked into the hands of a
JMA defender.”
