James Adam Layson, 44, of Perry, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025, surrounded by family. Born August 27, 1981, he shared a birthday bond with his dad and was the beloved son of Gerald and Emma Darlene (Adams) Layson.
Adam is survived by his siblings, Kelly (Calvin) Clark of Bonaire; Christi (Ryan) Evangelo of Perry; and Patrick (Erin) Layson of St. Paul, MN. He was the proud uncle of Cally Clark, Chloe, Maggie, and Olivia Evangelo—nothing made him happier than being “Uncle Adam.”
He was welcomed into heaven by his grandparents GT and Louise Adams, James and Sula Layson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Adam loved big and without limits. If he ever called you friend, or once told you he loved you, know those feelings never faded. A gentle giant with quick wit, he had a gift for laughter and a heart that held on faithfully.
His greatest joy was his Power Rangers collection, decades in the making. He could rattle off football stats in a heartbeat, cheered fiercely for the Georgia Bulldogs and Falcons, and never missed WWE or The Young and the Restless. The Waltons earned him the nickname “John Boy” as a child. Monopoly nights with his buddy Daniel Morris, his dogs Rocky and JoJo, and red velvet cake were favorites.
Adam’s life was blessed by loyal friends; his dear friend and longtime caretaker, Daniel Morris; devoted cousins Misty and Michael Chestnut; his special caretaker of more than 10 years, Cotia Clark; and his DaVita dialysis family.
A celebration of Adam’s life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Perry, with visitation at 1:00 PM. In honor of his beloved Bulldogs, the family invites all to wear red and black.
