Jacqueline Rozier announces bid for County Commissioner, Post 4
PERRY, Ga. — During the public comment period of the Houston County Commissioner meeting Tuesday, Jacqueline Rozier stood from her seat on the fifth row, walked to the podium, and looked out to each of the current county commissioners, the department heads working for the county and a collection of concerned citizens. Today, she would be making her political debut and announcing her candidacy for County Commissioner Post 4.
“For the love of this county, and to contribute to continued growth, development and prosperity, I now declare my candidacy for Houston County Commissioner, Post 4,” Rozier said. “My goal is to continue to grow the entire county with help from working with other county commissioners; the cities of Warner Robins, Perry, and Centerville; and to include the smaller towns: Clinchfield, Elko, and Henderson.”
Rozier came to Houston County over 40 years ago, having moved here for her first station of duty. As a veteran of the United States Air Force, Rozier began working at Robins Air Force Base in 1975. She served for 33 years.
In addition to her years of service in the military, Rozier told her audience that she has served the county as an election registration worker and a poll worker.
Rozier said that she calls Houston County home. She has family in Houston County, she attends church in Houston County, and for several years, she has worked in Houston County.
“Like you, I want to live in a quiet life and enjoy the fruits of my labor,” Rozier said. “Houston County has made that possible, since it is a fast growing county in Middle Georgia.
“I applaud and thank the city and county elected and appointed officials, and community leaders who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.”
Rozier said that she hopes to help the county grow in her role as county commissioner.
A Primary election will be held later this year in May. Following the primaries, a general election will be held.
