WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – Houston Healthcare – Warner Robins opened their sports clinic back up for the upcoming season.

The clinic is open every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and it is open to all athletes in the county. It will offer preliminary care to athletes from Orthopedists.

If they need an X-ray, the clinic will send them to the Pavillion Diagnostics Center and after, they will decide if they need further attention, like rehab. The clinic will also give injured athletes an MRI.

According to the Houston Healthcare Sports Medicine Program Manager Mike Edgar, the clinic is completely free and there will be no charge to the athletes and their families.

The clinic will be open until the end of the football season on Nov. 11.

It will open to all middle and high school students involved in any sport; the main goal is to help all athletes in the county.

“It gets athletes evaluated faster. If they need medicine, they can get started on Saturday versus Monday and it gives coaching staff an idea whether they can have their player back,” said Edgar.

The clinic makes sure to keep coaches and parents informed on a student athlete’s injuries and their progress towards recovery.

According to Eden Tomberlin, Houston Healthcare provides a certified athletic trainer to all the public schools in the county. They are fully paid for by Houston Healthcare and they give them their benefits and salaries.

“Those athletic trainers, they are at the games, and they are a resource there for the students,” said Tomberlin.

Tomberlin said that for minor issues like CPR or major health issues, the trainers are there to help students. She said the clinic is another step for them to receive help from other injuries.

“If it’s something beyond their scope, they can come here and see an actual Orthopedist,” said Tomberlin.

The clinic is located at 233 North Houston Road, Suite 140B. The clinic is open every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
