GHP is a residential instructional program for gifted students that offers

talented high school juniors and seniors challenging and enriching educational

opportunities not usually available during the regular school year.

During the four weeks of

the summer program, students spend the morning in their major area of

nomination, exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school

classroom. During the afternoons, students choose one of the other areas in

which to study. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts, and

performances.  

The 2013 program will be the 50th summer, making it the longest continually

running program of its kind in the nation. GHP began in 1964 and is the oldest

and largest program of its type in the country. Fully funded by the Georgia

General Assembly, it is free of charge to participants.
