Houston County deputy stops Florida woman, Colorado man with large amount of marijuana
Two out-of-state individuals were arrested after a traffic stop led deputies to discover large quantities of marijuana, THC products, and cash in their vehicle.

PERRY — Two people from across state lines were arrested in Houston County after deputies found marijuana in their vehicle, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office announced.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, around 10 a.m. on June 13, Deputy Poole of the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division stopped a 2024 Range Rover on I-75, near mile marker 138 for following too closely.
The driver was identified as 35-year-old Claudia Mendez Saldana of Sanford, Florida, and the passenger was identified as 35-year-old Fernando Espinoza of Pueblo, Colorado.
After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, Poole found six large vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, a large vacuum-sealed bag with four pounds of THC wax, a large vacuum-sealed bag with two pounds of pre-rolled marijuana cigarettes, a small vacuum-sealed bag of 23 THC cartridges and $1,100.
Saldana and Espinoza were arrested and charged with posession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of THC wax with intent to distribule.
The sheriff’s office said more charges may be forthcoming, pending investigation.
