Houston area power hitters selected for All-County team
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — The fifth annual Houston Home Journal All-County baseball team is here. As the sports editor at the Houston Home Journal, I have had the pleasure of watching each of the six teams — five public, one private — play this season, and I have made my selections. During the process I did not ask opposing coaches to name players from other teams, similar to how the voting for all-region is tallied. By talking to coaches from selected programs, I wanted to make sure there was not a player that was missed during my coverage of so many games this season.
All comments — whether they are positive or negative — in regards to this all-county selection team should be brought to me, not the coaches or athletic directors at the respective schools. This list is not a subset list of the GHSA All-Region teams. This selected list of all-county players was done solely by HHJ.
Perry and Houston County had the best seasons of the Houston County baseball teams. Drew Burress, Gage Harrelson, Carson Bryant, Damon Sanders, Tyler Newhouse, Grey Brannen and Cody Daugherty were among our area’s most stellar players of the spring. The 2021-2022 HHJ All-County baseball team is made up of players that I have covered this season.
