WARNER ROBINS — At the most recent City of Warner Robins Council meeting, Mayor LaRhonda Patrick and council recognized the Kings Chapel Elementary School Beta Club for their donation to the Haven Hope House. They donated socks and undergarments.
“I love to see our young constituents and students in the community get together to do something to help individuals in need or just to help individuals period,” Mayor LaRhonda Patrick said. “We are so thankful that they did their little small token toward a greater mission.”
Patrick thanked the Beta Club for their stewardship and contributing to the City of Warner Robins.
“Leaders come in all different ages, and the Beta Club at Kings Chapel [Elementary], they are strong leaders in our community. I am so happy to see that we have our young constituents showing the adults how to give back.”
This donation is one of many the Haven Hope House has received. Patrick said they are very grateful for the community.
“Just knowing that the people are so giving really does make a huge difference,” she said. “Any donations we receive will go into our inventory to give out to those individuals who will reside in the shelter and also individuals in our community who are homeless.”
Patrick added that any monetary donations the Haven Hope House receives will go towards operations, buying food and furnishings the shelter might need, like sheets and blankets.
“Everything we get for the shelter, we use exclusively for the shelter, and most funds we are getting goes into an account until we might need it,” she said. “We haven’t had to buy much outside of the renovations of the shelter as we haven’t had to purchase many things at all because the community is so giving, so anything that we need, the community mostly meets those needs.”
Patrick revealed that the Haven Hope House will be opening this summer. There is no specific opening date yet, but Patrick said to be on the lookout for a ribbon cutting and a tour of the homeless shelter.
“I want to thank all of the community for what they do to help with Haven Hope House and the homelessness coalition,” she said. “Thank you to all of our community partners who are working on a consistent basis to make sure the homeless in our community have a second chance and a second start in transforming their lives.”
