Grand jury hands down more than 20 indictments

A Houston County grand jury handed down 24 indictments Tuesday, including charges for homicide by vehicle, attempted murder and home invasion, child molestation, rape and aggravated assault.

Vernon Jerome Gibson, of Fort Valley or Sandy Springs, was indicted on charges of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, homicide by vehicle (leaving the scene), serious injury by vehicle, two counts of hit and run, criminal attempt to commit a felony, reckless driving, speeding, two counts of disregarding a traffic control device, failure to report accident, driving without a license and driving on improper registration.

According to the indictment, this crime occurred on Nov. 6, 2016, which Gibson is accused of driving a 2002 Chevy Cavalier on Carl Vinson Parkway at Leverette Road when, without malice aforethought, caused the death of Bruce Snyder by colliding with his vehicle and failing to stop for a pursuing Houston County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

Also, Melvin Darrius Cody of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of criminal attempt to commit a felony, home invasion, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and three counts of aggravated assault.

According to the indictment, this crime occurred on May 15, which Cody is accused of forcibly entering the home of Alisha Davis with the intent to rape her and knowingly and intentionally attempted to commit the crime of murder.

Other indictments include:

• Diaquaveous Meshiuna Young of Warner Robins was indicted on a charge of child molestation for a crime on Jan. 22 involving a child under the age of 16.

• Mark Andrew Cole Jr. of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of statutory rape, child molestation and aggravated child molestation for a crime on Feb. 8 involving a child under the age of 16.

• Jeremy Todd Chandler Jr. of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault for a crime on Dec. 15, 2016, which he is accused of striking Stanley Neal in the head with a pistol and demanding money.

• Damian Carl Dotson of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude and pimping for person under the age of 16 for a crime between March 8 and 10.

• Prentiss Ashon Jackson of Warner Robins was indicted on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender.

• Mark Wiggins of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of statutory rape and child molestation for a crime on Jan. 22 involving a child under the age of 16.

• Tony Randall Wann of Warner Robins was indicted on charges of child molestation and aggravated sexual battery for a crime between May 20, 2015 and Nov. 6, 2016 involving a child under the age of 16.

• Montavious Tolbert of Warner Robins was indicted on a charge of sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 for a crime between Nov. 22-28, 2015.

• Alfred Cardenal Robinson Jr. of Warner Robins was indicted on a charge of rape for a crime between Sept. 27-28, 2015.
