Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA celebrated the opening of its new retail training store and donations drive-thru in Warner Robins with a press conference and VIP reception Nov. 20 followed by a ribbon cutting and store opening. The new Goodwill retail store is conveniently located at 2823 Watson Blvd., replacing a smaller Goodwill store at 115 Margie Dr. in Centerville.

“Houston County has proven to be a valuable partner in growing Goodwill and its mission of providing job training and career development services,” said Goodwill President and CEO James K. Stiff. “This new Watson Blvd store will provide a greater convenience for donors and customers along with ample space for future growth of Goodwill services.

The Watson Boulevard store, located in a renovated and repurposed former Food Lion, encompasses more than 18,000 square feet, double the size of the Margie Store that opened in 2008.

In fiscal year 2013, more than 72,000 donors in Houston County donated approximately 2.2 million pounds of good to Goodwill at donations centers on Moody Road, Margie Drive, Lake Joy Road and in Perry, along with the donation center at the Galleria Mall.

These donations fueled Goodwill’s mission in Houston, allowing Goodwill to serve 4,700 people with employment assistance and job search services in fiscal year 2013, placing nearly 800 people in employment and resulting in nearly 30,000 training days for employees with disabilities. This mission included the continuation of Goodwill’s three-decade relationship with Robins Air Force Base through the Good Vocations program
