PERRY—The city of Perry is hosting its first Perry Presents concert series of 2024, featuring Smokey Jones and The 3 Dollar Pistols, this Friday at Heritage Oaks Park from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Special Events Administrator and event organizer Autumn Cameron spoke with the Journal about this upcoming concert.

“In their bio, [the band] calls themselves a swashbuckling, bull riding, honkey tonk legend band,” she said.

Perry Presents is a concert series the city of Perry has held for the last few years. The city has decided to move these events to the spring.

“We decided to move it to the spring because of the new heat advisory restrictions we have,” she said. “Any outdoor concerts or events run the risk of getting canceled in the summer. We did not want that to happen again this year.”

Cameron thinks Heritage Oaks Park is an awesome venue for an outdoor concert series.

“It allows people to bring lawn chairs and blankets or whatever people prefer to sit on and enjoy live music,” she said.

Cameron recommends bringing lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Outside food and drink will also be permitted. Food trucks will be on site for those who want to purchase food or drinks at the event. Alcohol will be available to purchase from Bodega Brew and the Slush Bus.

Parents can take photos of their children with the Easter Bunny. Balloon animals and various giveaways will also be there for the kids.

Unlike the rain at Food Truck Friday, the weather should be much better for this outdoor event.

“It looks like it is going to be 70 and sunny. No chance of rain right now, I don’t want to jinx myself,” Cameron said.

The next concert in the Perry Presents series will feature Trial By Fire, a Journey tribute band. This event will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., April 26, at Heritage Oaks Park.
