Georgia State Patrol still searching for man following interstate chase and Perry crash
PERRY, GA. — Perry Police issued a BOLO report early Friday evening searching for the unidentified man pictured above, after Georgia State Patrol reportedly ensued a chase with him on I-75 ending in a crash on St. Patrick’s Drive. As of print time Tuesday, the man has not been located.
The Journal contacted GSP public information officer Lt. Michael Burns for the full story.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, troopers in Dooly County stopped a Dodge Charger on I-75 for a window tint violation. According to Burns, the chase was initiated not long after.
“As the Trooper approached the vehicle, the driver said he did not have any identification.” Burns said. ” The Trooper asked the driver to exit the vehicle, but the driver refused and instead drove away initiating a pursuit.
“The driver continued north on Interstate 75 in an aggressive manner, driving in all lanes and on the shoulders of the roadway.”
The chase continued on I-75 until Exit 127, when the driver exited the interstate and continued “driving aggressively” until they entered Perry city limits.
“The driver reentered Interstate 75 North at mile marker 135, then immediately exited at mile marker 136. The driver continued fleeing on an access road that parallels Interstate 75 before reaching a dead end, where he fled from the vehicle on foot,” Burns said.
Perry Police said in their media release that the driver crashed on St. Patrick’s Drive before fleeing the scene.
Georgia State Patrol, Houston County and Dooly County sheriff’s offices and the Perry Police Department searched the wooded area, but could not find the driver.
According to Captain Heath Dykes of the Perry Police Department, the driver has been identified as 28-year-old D’Quinta Hill. A second party, a passenger in the fleeing vehicle, has been detained. Law enforcement is still actively searching for Hill.
This is an active investigation. Perry Police has advised that those who see Hill do not approach him. Anyone with information is asked to call the Perry Police Department at (478) 542-2000.
