PERRY, Ga. — Pitching season is almost over, in Georgia at least.

The Georgia Horseshoe Pitchers Association held their final tournament of the season on July 8th — the Perry World Warm-Up Horseshoe Tournament.

This tournament serves as exactly what its name implies: a warm-up for the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association currently in progress. It started July 17 and goes through July 29.

For this “warm-up,” 37 pitchers were divided into seven classes, and then competed for patches and prizes.

There were clubs from all over Georgia that participated, but Perry was well represented in the winner’s circle.

In the 40-foot championship class, Robbie Bloodworth took home the trophy.

In the 30-foot championship class, Larry Myers was named champ.

In Class A, Marcus Waters was named winner and Royce Byrd the runner-up.

In Class C, Ronnie Miller placed second.

In Class E, Patrick Schmidt placed first and Charles Smith placed second.

The National Horseshoe Pitchers Association World Tournament is currently taking place in Lansing, Michigan.
