The suspect involved in the domestic incident, identified by the GBI as Jesus Chavez-Ledesma, 46, of Warner Robins, was outside the house when officers arrived, then shot a weapon and barricaded himself in an outdoor shed.

Officers attempted to negotiate with Chavez-Ledesma, who set fire to the shed and continued to shoot at officers. An officer fired back in response, striking Chavez-Ledesma, the GBI said.

Officers rendered aid and Chavez-Ledesma was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive. No officers were injured during the incident.

The investigation was turned over to the GBI and will then be forwarded to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office for review.
