Wide receiver Daveon Walker had five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown and running back Malcolm Brown rushed for 131 yards, two touchdowns and had a touchdown reception.

This week:

The Demons will matchup against the Archer Tigers this Friday. Last time the two teams met, Warner Robins sent the Tigers back on the bus to Gwinnett County after thrashing the team 42-7 in The MAC.

Archer is 0-1 this season after losing to Westlake 29-14 last week. The Demons will travel to Archer for this Friday’s game with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

Northside Eagles

Last game:

Last Friday, Northside thrashed the Veterans Warhawks 48-7 with a dominating performance. Quarterback Cameran Brown threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns against his former team and receiver Centavious Lowe had a game with 123 yards and two touchdowns on four catches. Lowe also threw a 30-yard touchdown to Keron Milton on a trick play.

This week:

Northside will host Peach County (0-1). Peach lost its first game to Central, a 7A school out of Alabama. Peach is still a formidable opponent like usual and will be a tougher test for the Eagles. The Peach game should benefit Northside before the Eagles face the gauntlet of Warner Robins, Richmond Hill, and then Colquitt County next month.

Kickoff against Peach County is at 7:30 p.m. in The MAC.

Perry Panthers

Last game:

Perry beat county-rival Houston County 36-13 last week to get revenge for last season’s loss to the Bears. Armar Gordon turned in 304 passing yards and three touchdowns in his debut as starting quarterback. Receiver Daequan Wright caught four passes for 108 yards and a touchdown and Tommy Demicco caught four passes for 77 yards and a touchdown.

This week:

The Panthers will look to continue their revenge tour as they play Harris County (0-1) on Friday. Harris County defeated the Panthers 14-10 last season. Kickoff is Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Harris County.

Houston County Bears

Last game:

Houston dropped the first game of the season with a 36-13 loss to Perry. Freshman quarterback Antwann Hill Jr. is still in a adjustment period but finished the night with no interceptions thrown. Bryce Davis carried the ball for 65 rushing yards and a touchdown and Simeon Askew had a 53-yard touchdown reception. Defensive end Nijah Johnson had a big night with two sacks and four tackles with three tackles resulting in a loss of yards. Linebacker Bryce Parrish ended the night with 6.5 tackles

This week:

Houston County plays Crisp County this Friday. Last season, Crisp defeated the Bears 12-0. Crisp is ranked No.6 in Class 3A by the AJC but that shouldn’t deter the Bears. Crisp County narrowly won last season while being viewed as the No.2 team in 3A by the AJC.

Kickoff is on Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Freedom Field.

Westfield Hornets

This week:

The Westfield hornets open their season this Friday against Trinity Christian (1-0). Trinity won its first game 21-14 over Edmund Burke Academy. Last season saw the Hornets beat Trinity Christian 35-7 and Westfield plans to replicate the performance. Westfield’s sights are set on the grand prize and they’d like to starts this season off right with a W.

The game will be at Trinity Christian with kickoff is Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Veterans Warhawks

Last game:

Veterans couldn’t keep up with the Northside Eagles in the season opener and lost 48-7. The Warhawks played after losing starting quarterback Jarrett Pierce to an ankle injury in the preseason scrimmage and his absence has adjusted the team’s offensive approach. Junior quarterback Matthew Bruce scored the Warhawks only touchdown and showed that he’s a rushing threat. Defensive end Deondre Kennedy finished the night with a team high four tackles and a tackle for a loss.

This week:

The Warhawks will look to bounce back against West Laurens (0-1) this week. West Laurens lost its season opener to Bleckley County 21-14. Veterans beat West Laurens 35-0 last season but this Friday they’ll be on the road.

West Laurens will host Veterans on Friday with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
