The Bears made it three in a row against Perry in the Jeremy Edwards era on Friday. Isaiah Mitchell brought in all four touchdowns through the air for HoCo, and they stifled the Perry ground attack for a 31-17 final. Mitchell finished with 10 receptions for 192 yards and four touchdowns.

They host Warner Robins on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.; Those are the only teams not on a bye this week.

Northside

The Eagles tried to snap their seven-game losing streak against the Demons, but after a close first half Warner Robins pulled away to win 34-12. Northside’s special teams made several big plays including a blocked field goal that was returned for a touchdown.

The Eagles will rest up with a bye week next week before beginning a four-game road stretch at Burke County on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Perry

Kory Pettigrew (7) brings in a catch in double coverage to set up a Panthers score. (Clay Brown/HHJ)

The Perry rush attack met their match on Friday as they lost 31-17 to the Bears for the third straight year. The Panthers were limited creating big plays, and though they played solid coverage in the secondary for much of the game, they couldn’t limit Isaiah Mitchell.

Perry will be on a bye this week, but will travel to take on Veterans on Freedom Field on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Veterans

The Warhawks went on the road looking for their first win against Starr’s Mill, but fell short of a comeback 35-27. With about eight minutes to go in the third quarter they were down 35-7, and they scored 20 unanswered points but fell short.

Veterans will recover from a tough opening stretch with a bye week before their first home game against Perry on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Warner Robins

The Demons are one of two teams in Houston County playing next week; They travel across town to take on the Bears on Freedom Field on Friday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Westfield

The Hornets held Deerfield-Windsor scoreless through the second and third quarters, but the Knights scored 14 in the fourth quarter to take a narrow 33-29 victory in Albany. Westfield will regroup with a bye week before hosting Tiftarea Academy on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
