Friday Night Football Roundup — Week 8
Recap last week’s football with the Friday Night Football Roundup.

The effects of Hurricane Helene are still being felt throughout the state of Georgia, but most of Houston County’s teams got back to a normal schedule this week.
Here’s a roundup of last week’s football:
Houston County

Friday was a big night for the Houston County offense as they picked up their second region win in a 63-22 drubbing of Northside. Antwann Hill Jr. threw for 489 yards and eight (!) touchdowns, with MJ Mathis, Isaiah Mitchell, and Kavon Conciauro all catching multiple touchdowns.

Northside

The Eagles lost their fifth straight on Friday in a 63-22 loss to Houston County. This is their longest losing streak since 2019, and it’ll be tough to stop with reigning 6A champion Thomas County Central coming to town after the bye week.

Perry
The Panthers’ game against Wayne County was moved to Perry on Monday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. because of damage from Hurricane Helene in Jesup.
Veterans
Veterans took a trip down to the Jackets’ nest on Friday and lost 61-10 to Thomas County Central. They trailed 14-3 after the first quarter, went down 38-10 at halftime and were held scoreless in the second half.
Warner Robins

The Demons fell in a tough region test against Benedictine 35-21. The Cadets’ defense did well enough to stop the run and force Warner Robins to go through the air where they saw mixed results. They’ll take a breather this week before hitting a two-game road trip.

Westfield
The Hornets got it done on the ground in a 28-7 victory over Strong Rock Christian. Brock Johnson tallied 154 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 12 carries to push Westfield to the win.
