Recap Week 7 football with the weekly Friday Night Football Roundup:
Houston County

Houston County (6-0, 1-0 Region 2-5A) pushed their winning streak to six as they dispatched Veterans 49-10 in the Battle for Freedom.
All of the scoring was done in the first half, and the Bears went up 49-3 before the Warhawks tacked on a touchdown.
Colin Anderson once again broke off a 60-plus yard play with a 61-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.
Northside

Northside’s (0-6, 0-1 Region 2-5A) defense only allowed two offensive touchdowns in their 28-7 region loss to Coffee.
A 96-yard kickoff return touchdown and a blocked punt recovered in the end zone put the Trojans ahead 14-7 after the Eagles got on the board with a 15-yard run by J.D. Garman.
Northside forced three turnovers on the day, but the offense wasn’t able to gain much traction as Coffee’s front got after the quarterback all night.
Perry

Perry (3-3, 1-0 Region 1-4A) comfortably beat New Hampstead 38-24 in their first region game and their second straight game on the road.
The offense put up their highest score since the season opener against Baldwin when it scored 46 points. It seems to have hit a groove after scoring 13 points through two games early in the season.
Veterans

The Warhawks (2-4, 0-1 Region 2-5A) dropped their third straight after losing 49-10 to Houston County in the Battle for Freedom.
The Bears’ defense got after it early and a kickoff fumble helped put HoCo up multiple scores in the first quarter.
All of the scoring was done in the first half, with Veterans tacking on a touchdown at the tail end of the second quarter.
Warner Robins

The Demons (3-3, 0-1 Region 1-4A) were stunned in an upset loss to Wayne County, who was 1-14 in their last 15 games and parted with their head coach last week before beating Warner Robins 32-10 on Friday.
The Demons trailed 12-3 at halftime, and the Yellow Jackets scored multiple times in the final minutes to seal their fate.
This is the first time Wayne County has beaten Warner Robins in series history, granted they’ve only played five times as of Friday’s game.
Westfield

Westfield (4-2) carried their momentum from an upset win against First Presbyterian Day last week into a 29-10 win over Pinewood Christian on the road.
The Hornets have now won two in a row for the second time this season, and they’ll look to continue the streak next week when they start district play against Strong Rock Christian.
