Former Northside Eagle signs NFL contract
In 2016, O’MonTae Devondre Daley signed his national letter of intent to become a member of the Vanderbilt Commodores football team. Six years later, defensive back Tae Daley signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League.
Tae Daley is the son of Tameka Laurama and the brother of Darious Daley, who played in the Canadian football league. Tae Daley is a native of Warner Robins, where he attended Northside High School.
While attending Northside, Daley lettered in two sports — football and soccer — where he was named to all-region and all-state teams during his high school career. Before leaving Northside, Daley was a three-star defensive back, according to ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports rankings. On the gridiron, Tae Daley recorded 13 career interceptions and over 200 tackles as an Eagle.
During Daley’s sophomore campaign, he led coach Chad Alligood and the Green Street Eagles to the 5A state title game. As a senior safety, Daley was among the team leaders in tackles with 84.
At Vanderbilt, Tae Daley was sensational. As a junior, he tallied 57 tackles (35 solo), three interceptions and a forced fumble. Tae Daley started nine games for the Commodores, while grabbing two interceptions against Florida in 2019. After playing a few seasons with Vandy, Daley transferred to Virginia Tech before the 2020 season. As a sophomore, Daley started in eight games and tallied 45 tackles (35 solo). As a freshman, Tae Daley saw limited action but amassed five tackles (four solo).
After signing an NFL contract with the Arizona Cardinals on May 17, I sat down with Tae Daley’s agent, Freddie Berry, of Berry Athlete Representation. Berry had the following to say about Tae Daley’s recent accomplishment: “His journey has not been easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is. Daley’s hard work ethic and determination are what got him to this point. Everything happens for a reason, and he could not be more happy at the situation he is in with the Arizona Cardinals.”
