Flint honored by HCBOE
Special to the Journal
The Houston County Board of Education honored Flint Energies with a Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) Partnership Commendation award at the April 2013 board meeting. Flint was recognized for its many contributions to the school system. Flint Energies is one of only about 10 companies statewide to receive the GSBA Partnership Commendation this year.
Board of Education Chair Marianne Melnick remarked, “Our relationship with Flint goes back more than 60 years, and that relationship continues to flourish and mature. Flint is a true friend of education, which is reflected by its commitment of resources to K-12 public education and the fact that Flint employees continually make positive contributions to our schools and community as a whole.”
In 2012, Flint Energies supported Houston County schools through programs such as: Energy Conservation Awards; Give Us an A; Bright Ideas; and an Energy Conservation Poster Contest. The Flint Foundation also awarded grants to schools.
